"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision."

The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives.

"It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." – Andrew Carnegie, Industrialist & Philanthropist

Do you have the right people on your team to grow your consulting firm?

The book Traction, my all-time favorite business book, states that "you must have the right people in the right seats." It also states that each person must get it, want it, and have the capacity to do it.

As you grow your consulting firm, have you mapped out the team you need to achieve your business goals?

Let's deep dive into those key people.

To build and maintain a profitable 7-figure business, you need the right people in the right seats.

The right people are the ones who share your company's core values, vision, and mission.

They have bought into your company's dream, and they're willing and ready to do their part to help you achieve it.

Your team should be people you enjoy being around. Your team should make your company better because they are operating in excellence. On top of everything, they care about you, the company, and its overall success.

Before deep dive into the three people at a minimum you should have on your team - I have a crucial question for you regarding the people you currently have

If given a chance, would you hire them again?

Your answer to this question should help determine if you have the right people on your team.

If you answered the question, "no, you wouldn't rehire that person," you may have some tough CEO decisions to make for your company's betterment and future growth.

Let's discuss the four people a consultant needs to build and maintain a million-dollar firm.

  1. An Operation Assistant -
    1. This person will keep the operations of your company running smoothly.
    2. They will answer the phones, manage your schedule, update your systems, onboard and offboard clients, and more.
    3. They will effectively manage the day-to-day operations in the presence and absence of the CEO and any team members.
  2. Service Delivery Person
    1. This key person's role is to deliver your firm's services.
    2. You want to train and clone them to be you but better.
    3. Your firm should not rely on you as the CEO to complete every single task. Your delivery should be equipped to service your clients up to about 90% of the project and services.
    4. It's nothing wrong with you having to check and or complete the final steps. Or complete a few tasks, but your service delivery person should complete the buck of the work.
  3. A Growth Specialist
    1. Your growth specialist, marketing expert, or assistant should laser focus on accelerating the company's growth.
    2. Their main goal is to help you step-by-step secure more clients, grow brand awareness, and take the company to the next level.
  4. Accountant
    1. Hire an accountant that will laser focus on helping you become fiscally responsible.
    2. This person should be equipped to help you understand how every decision you make or desire to make will impact your finances.
    3. Due to hiring the right accountant, your firm's money management, cash position, and ability to generate a profit should significantly improve.

Those are the four people you should hire immediately. Your ability to manifest and maintain a profitable 7-figure business will depend on the team you have supporting you.

You can not do it all as a CEO, and you shouldn't want to do it all.

Honestly, if your BIG dream is one you can accomplish by yourself, your dream is too small.

When hiring a team, I can not stress enough that you should make decisions based on the company's future growth and not emotions because you know the person.
